Corps of Exploration Careers

The international Nautilus Corps of Exploration consists of engineers, scientists, technologists, educators, students, and mariners. We make discoveries in the fields of geology, biology, and archaeology, while developing and testing innovative tools and technologies for science and communications. We are dedicated to inspiring the next generation of deep-sea explorers in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) by showcasing the many career paths anyone can take to explore the world’s oceans.

Current Expedition Team

E/V Nautilus can host up to 31 members of the science team and 17 ship’s crew, all contributing in various ways to the expedition. Without each team member’s unique skill set and passions — whether maintaining equipment, recording scientific observations, cooking hearty meals, processing data, or sharing discoveries with classrooms — our missions could not be successful. Since 2009, the Corps of Exploration has grown to include over 1,200 people from 43 U.S. states and 50 countries around the world.
