(re)Introducing ROV Little Hercules

For the first time this season, the team aboard E/V Nautilus is exploring the deep sea with the help of ROV Little Hercules. Working in tandem with ROV Atalanta, Little Hercules is an imaging vehicle capable of reaching more than 90% of the world's ocean floor. Carrying lights, sensors, and an ultra-high definition camera, Little Hercules excels in exploring habitats up to 6,000 meters deep. Jump in with the team at sea to learn all about this excellent ocean exploration tool.

The NA176 Deep Sea Habitats of the Cook Islands expedition is using the ROV, mapping, and telepresence systems of E/V Nautilus to explore deep-sea areas prioritized by the Cook Islands government and local stakeholders. All collected data will be made publicly available to stimulate further exploration and research, and to support ongoing local management and future decision-making for the Cook Islands by Cook Islanders.
