Meet the 2024 Nautilus Expedition Patch Design Contest Winner:
Marlin, 16, from New York, USA
"I’ve been enamored with marine topics since childhood, from the anatomy of obscure deep sea creatures to the mutualism between coral and algae. As an artist, the ocean is one of my biggest sources of inspiration due to its diversity in terms of both physicality and function. It encourages me to explore designs that are interesting as well as entertaining. Additionally, I’m always excited when I see a new ocean exploration update from Nautilus Live because it allows me to expand my knowledge and, if I’m being frank, I just think marine organisms are incredibly cool!" says Marlin.
Students ages five to eighteen (5-18) were eligible to submit original artwork to be considered for the official Nautilus Expedition Patch. The winning design, after minor edits, will be worn by members of the Corps of Exploration during our annual exploration cruises.
