Tell us about your work/ research. What kinds of things do you do?

I specialize in science communication and utilize digital cinema, photography, media, and journalism to help bring awareness to marine conservation efforts and scientific research.

What sparked your initial interest in your career?

I started out as an Integrative Biology major at University, but then I participated in a student research experience program called EPSCoR. There, I got to network with so many wonderful and unique individuals who helped me discover my passion for science communication. It is because of the program and the individuals within it that I was able to learn about the different ways in which I can make a meaningful contribution to the STEM community.

Who influenced you or encouraged you the most?

My siblings and university mentors really encouraged me to follow my passions in science, conservation, and communication and helped me look for ways in which I could combine all three in an effective and meaningful way.

What element of your work/ study do you think is the most fascinating?

I think the most fascinating thing about my element of work is seeing the process leading up to the final communication projects. Every research process is different, so whenever I work on creating a project to share the research with the public, it feels like a new experience.

How did you get involved with the Nautilus Exploration Program?

I attended the SACNAS conference in Puerto Rico and learned about the STEMSEAS program from Angie Diaz (STEMSEAS and Nautilus alum) and the other outreach speakers. I'm excited to be part of the STEMSEAS Program aboard Nautilus.

What other jobs led you to your current career?

I have participated in an internship as a student researcher under the Guam EPSCoR Program.

What are your degrees and certifications?

I'm working on my first degree. I also am an Open Water Scuba Diver

What are your hobbies?

I love scuba diving, free diving, reading, photography, videography, and painting.

What advice would you give someone who wants to have a career like yours?
