Best of E/V Nautilus 2025: Expedition Highlights

In 2025, E/V Nautilus and the Corps of Exploration spent six months exploring the Central, Western, and Southern Pacific, mapping unsurveyed seafloor, and bringing new views of never-before-seen seafloor to the world. Through six expeditions, we mapped almost 10,000 km² of seafloor and conducted over 30 ROV dives. The team and E/V Nautilus sailed from Guam and around the Mariana Islands to the Solomon Islands, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, Howland and Baker Islands, and all the way to the Cook Islands. From WWII shipwrecks to stunning deep-sea animals to active volcanic vents, this highlight reel captures some of the breathtaking discoveries, inspiring people, and cutting-edge technologies that powered this unforgettable year.

Thanks to our many partners who have made the 2025 E/V Nautilus expedition season possible with their support including NOAA Ocean Exploration via the Ocean Exploration Cooperative Institute, regional partners like the Solomon Islands government, Marshall Islands Marine Resources Authority, the Cook Islands government, the Mariana Trench Marine National Monument, and then the hundreds of science and technology experts and partner organizations who bring expertise to the Corps of Exploration. Expedition goals were co-developed with community input from scientists, resource managers, and local stakeholders in the regions where the expeditions took place. We thank everyone for their knowledge, curiosity, and collaboration that made the season a success.
