Rachel Hartigan Shea has been a writer and editor with National Geographic since 2012. Previously she worked at the Washington Post as editor of the books section and at U.S. News & World Report, among other publications. She covered the 2017 National Geographic expedition to Nikumaroro which brought forensic dogs to the island to search for Amelia Earhart's remains.
