Jacob Balcanoff is a graduate student at the University of Rhode Island Graduate School of Oceanography. Jacob is studying under Steven Carey and is working with FTIR and ATR melt inclusion analysis of unique events known as lava balloons.
Jacob Balcanoff graduated from the University of Massachusetts in 2014 with a degree in geology and a minor in information technology.
"I've always been enthusiastic about volcanoes and tectonic processes, and now I get to travel on the Nautilus and see them first hand."
