
Gillian Ashenfelter
Gillian Ashenfelter is a Biology and Marine Ecology teacher at Lick-Wilmerding High School, where she also coaches a National Ocean Science Bowl Team. Gillian began teaching 14 years ago on Catalina Island, and has since taught at the SF Zoo and in grades K-12 in the classroom. Gillian is a curriculum consultant for the Gulf of the Farallones Marine Sanctuary Association, and a Mentor Teacher for The Exploratorium Teacher Institute Leadership Program. In 2012 Gillian won a Herbst Award for Teaching Excellence.
Gillian Ashenfelter graduated from Princeton University in 1999 with a degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and a certificate in Latin American Studies. Her senior thesis summary was published in Nature in 2000.
