Elizabeth Kapu'uwailani Lindsey

Polynesian Explorer

Dr. Elizabeth Lindsey is the first Polynesian Explorer and female Fellow in the history of the National Geographic Society.  A cultural anthropologist and award-winning filmmaker, Lindsey travels to the world’s most remote regions documenting rapidly vanishing indigenous knowledge and wisdom.  

Her current research in cognition and longevity serves to help protect and preserve cultural intelligence providing invaluable lessons for 21st-century leaders. 

Lindsey’s doctoral work in ethnonavigation resulted from a 10-year mentorship with one of the world’s greatest celestial navigators.  

Raised by Hawaiian elders, Lindsey directed and produced “Then There Were None,” a documentary film chronicling the untold plight of native Hawaiians.  It is considered a Hawaiian historical classic and has received numerous international awards, including the prestigious CINE Eagle. 

She has created scholarships in Asia, India, and Hawai’i and is the recipient of the United Nations Visionary Award. 

Dr. Lindsey is an advisor to global organizations and has served on such boards as the Tibet Fund for His Holiness, the Dalai Lama.  

She currently serves on the boards of World Pulse and Ocean Exploration Trust.
