Art Borja
Art Borja is a biology and science teacher at Hillcrest Academy in Phoenix, AZ. with more than 15 years teaching experience. He belongs to the national Science Teacher's Association; the Arizona Science Teacher's Association and is constantly seeking new ways to bring hands-on experiences into the classroom to excite students about science. He has previously sponsored school science fairs, the NSTA Toshiba Exploravision program and the Civil Air Patrol Aeronautical curriculum. Having been born in Mexico City Borja is a native Spanish speaker and studied French in High school.
Art Borja attended the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. He graduated from Tulane University in 1987 with a BS in biology. After leaving the navy, Borja received a JD degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 1994. In 1999 he completed a "Troops to Teacher's" certification program and completed his teaching internship through Jacksonville University, FL. He earned a master's degree from Universidad Autonoma de Barcelona in 2011 in Psychobiology and Cognitive Neuroscience and is currently working on his PhD in the teaching of biology through the Universidad Internacional Iberoamericana in Mexico.
