Exploring Barracuda Bank

On October 12, 2013 we explored a previously unexplored area southeast of the British Virgin Islands known as Barracuda Bank. This region is of particular geological and biological interest due to the drastic slope of the region that rises quite dramatically from 2000 meters to less than 50 meters deep. These photos capture some of the interesting biology we saw during our exploration of the slope including coral, crustaceans, fish, and sponges.
