Gil Gambash

Historian

Gil is a Roman historian. He has received his PhD from Princeton University last year. He is now a postdoctoral fellow of Yad Hanadiv, and next year he will join Haifa University’s Department of Maritime Civilizations. Having written his dissertation on revolts and their subjugation in the provinces of the Roman empire, Gil will next shift his focus towards the sea. He hopes to join the weighty, ongoing discussion of the role of the Mediterranean in shaping the routine of the populations surrounding it. For that purpose he has started to participate in relevant activities, including giving seminars on the historiography of the Mediterranean, excavating submarine archaeological sites, and joining this exploration cruise on board the Nautilus.
