Collecting and Processing Samples

If you’ve ever wondered what happens with the water and core samples we collect on the ROV Hercules, here is your chance to find out. Our scientists on this leg of the expedition have been working around the clock to process all of the water, gas, and sediment samples being returned. Most of the detailed analysis will happen back on shore, but it’s critical that the samples get to other researchers in top condition, ready for more tests. It’s not an easy process, especially aboard a moving vessel.
